Preliminary Study of Perfusion Imaging in Cerebral Neoplasms with MSCT

Objective:To valuate the role of multi-slice CT(MSCT)perfusion imaging in the diagnosis of cerebral neoplasms.Methods:MSCT perfusion imaging was performed in 21 patients with cerebral tumors.Data on the cerebral blood volume(CBV),cerebral blood flow(CBF),time to peak(TTP)and permeability surface(PS)were calculated and the perfusion maps were analyzed.Results:In 21 cerebral tumors,there were 8 cases of gliomas,7 of intracranial metastases,8 of meningiomas.All perfusion images showed clear display of brain tumors and differentiation between tumor and edema.The values of CBF,CBV,TTP and PS varied in different tumors and PS map successfully outlined the parachyma of tumors and capillary permeability.Conclusion:MSCT perfusion imaging provides a scientific method in quantifiable research of haemodynamic changes in cerebral tumors,and may help in detection of tumor border and differential diagnosis.
