Establishment on animal model of alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head

objective To explore and establishment reasonable animal model of alcoholinduced avascular necrosis of the femoral head. Methods 60 male rabbits were divided into two groups randomly. Experimental group were administered the wine containing 50% of alcohol at dosage of 8ml/(kg.d) and isodose saline as controls by pouring into stomach with a plastic tube. The rabbits were sacrificed and studied the histological change of the femoral head in batches 1,2,3,6 months after the start of the procedures. Results The hematopoietic tissue of the femoral head marrow in experimental group were decreased and the fatty tissue were increased , the trabeculace became thinner and sparse, Afat degeneration was seen inosteocytes with the empty osteocytes lacuna in the trabeculace being elevated. The transmissible electron microscope study of the osteocyte showed lipid deposition and necrosis, collagenfibers revealed rarefaction and its arrangement deranged with portion breaking. Conclusion The change of in early histology of alcohol-induced avasoularnecrosis of the femoral head in male rabbit similar homo sapiens. Rabbit can be used animal model as alcohol-induced avascular necrosis of the femoral head.
