A investigation and analysis on compliance of outpatients with schizophrenia

Objective To explore compliance of outpatients with schizophrenia. Methods Self-formulated questionnaires were applied in the survey on 436 outpatients with schizophrenia. Results Among those outpatients, 40.6% was with complete compliance; 36% had not established the habit of regularly taking medicine; 43% had the behavior of self-decrease or self-discontinuance of drug; 47.8% dared the disadvantages of taking antipsychotics known by acquaintance; 43.8% could not bear the side effects of medicine; 32.8% worried about the compliant or damage of drug.Compliance was much influenced by dyscognition of drug therapy. Conclusion It is necessary to take special policy on health education to develop compliance of patients with schizophrenia.
