MRI Imaging Features and Prognosis of Acute Brain Stem Infarction

MA Xing-shun;WANG Na;The Second Department of Neurology,the First Hospital of Yulin;
Objective To investigate application value of magnetic resonance imaging( MRI) in diagnosis and prognosis of acute brain stem infarction. Methods Clinical data of 36 patients with acute brain stem infarction during January 2014 and January 2016 was retrospectively analyzed. MRI imaging and pathological features,and application of MRI in prognosis analysis of acute brain stem infarction were comprehensively analyzed. Results Among 36 patients with acute brainstem infarction,there were 29 patients with single infarction,7 patients with multiple infarctions by MRI and pathological examinations. A total of 43 infractions were found. The infarction diameter was 4-90( 52 ± 31) mm,and the main shape was circle. MRI scan showed that there were 22 patients with low or slightly low T1 WI signal,and T2 WI high signal features,11 patients with isointensity T1 WI and high T2 WI signal features,and 3 patients with confounding and inequable T1 WI and T2 WI signal features. Conclusion MRI scanning can clearly display the number,location,size and shape of infarction for patients with acute brain stem infarction,and it can also analyze prognosis of the patients.
