Experimental Study of Flow Resistance and Heat Transfer Inside Internally Ribbed Tube

The heat transfer characteristics and flow resistances in internally ribbed copper tubes with different rib heights and pitches were experimentally studied in steady state.The comparison of the heat transfer effect was made among four tubes with different rib heights.The inner diameter of the copper tube is 7 mm,the relative rib heights are 0 mm,0.22 mm,0.24 mm,and 0.25 mm,the relative rib pitches are 44 and 60.The Reynolds number varies from 900 to 6 500.Analysis of the experimental results may lead to the following conclusions: The presence of ribs enhanced the heat transfer greatly.The influence of the rib heights on the heat transfer is monotone,and the flow resistance increases with the increasing of rib heights and rib pitches.
