Preparation of Chitosan-SiO_2 Hybrid Composite Material via Tetraethy Loxy Silane Sol-Gel Process

Chitosan-SiO2 hybrid materials were prepared by the methods of blending and original hybrid respectively.The effects of the feed ratio of TEOS to chitosan on the structures and properties which included moisture resistance,mechanical,Cu2+ adsorption of the hybrid materials were studied.The results indicated that the materials' highest water adsorption rate prepared by blending and originally hybrid the increase 108.3% and 11.1% respectively compared to the pure chitosan film material.As regarding to the tensile strength,the material prepared by blending the highest increase rate was 19.9% and originally hybrid's was 20.3% compared to the pure chitosan film material;with the increasing of the value of mTEOS/mchitosan,the tensile strength value of the material prepared by blending increased firstly then decreased but the originally hybrid's increased directly.At the same time,with the increasing of the value of mTEOS/mchitosan,the elongation value of the materials which were prepared by blending and originally hybrid both decreased.As to the adsorption ability to Cu2+,with the increasing of the value of mTEOS/mchitosan,the adsorption value of the material prepared by blending increased firstly then decreased and the materials prepared by originally hybrid decreased all the time.The results of the TGA test showed that the materials' degradation mechanism kept unchanged with the introduction of SiO2.The test of SEM indicated that the composite film materials were enhanced by nano SiO2.
