Refining Chitosan from the Cell Walls Mucor Racemosus and Rhizopus Oryzae

WANG Rong, HANG Wei-ling,LIU Guo-qing, ZHU Yuan-chao (College of Life Science and Technology, Xiaogan University, Xiaogan 432100, China)
Mucor racemosus and rhizopus oryzae were chosen as the research materials in the experiment. The method of refining chitosan from the shells of shrimps and crabs by way of acid-alkali after lots of modifications and supplements was applied. Chitosan was obtained after series of technological processes such as culture, acid-soaking, alkali-boiling, filtering, sediment and so on. A new pathway refining chitosan from the filamentous fungi was discovered. The experiment also demonstrates that mucor racemosus is higher than rhizopus oryzae in productivity.
