Determination and Correlation of the Liquid-Liquid Equilibrium Data for the System Methanol-Soybean Oil under Near Critical State

The liquid-liquid equilibrium data for the system methanol-soybean oil under near critical state were measured.The experimental temperature and pressure ranged from 381.2 K to 472.2 K,and from 9.79 MPa to 18.16 MPa,respectively.The data were correlated with Peng-Robinson equation of state.van der Walls one-fluid mixing rules were used for parameters a and b in the Peng-Robinson equation.One parameter van der Walls model for the cross coefficient terms aij and bij was used,which both contained one adjustable binary interaction parameter kij and lij,respectively.The parameters kij and lij were condsidered as independent and dependent of temperature,respectively.The values of the parameters kij and lij were estimated with the experimental data.As for Peng-Robinson equation with parameters independent of temperature,the root mean square deviation(RMSD) and average absolute deviation(AAD) in mass fraction were 0.0391 and 0.0166,respectively.As for Peng-Robinson equation with parameters dependent of temperature,RMSD and AAD were 0.0380 and 0.0162,respectively.Therefore,Peng-Robinson equation could be used to calculate the liquid-liquid equilibrium data for the system methanol-soybean oil under near critical state.
