Tidal Harmonic Analysis for Long-Term Sea Level Data of Tidal Gauge Stations in Seas Adjacent to China

Harmonic analysis of long-term sea level observations at the 14 tidal stations i.e.Xiamen,Dalian,Beihai,Lianyungang,Kanmen,Shanwei,Dongfang,Haikou,Beijiao of Hong Kong,Naze,Naba,Lusi,Zhapo and Shijiusuo,is conducted.The result consisting of 8 constituents(Q1,O1,P1,K1,N2,M2,S2 and K2) obtained from the one-year data analysis are seperated to respectively derive harmonic constants of each constituents and to compare the derivedharmonic constants with those assumed values in the traditional one-year data analysis.It is shown in the comparison results that there are significantly errors of some constituents.If the harmonic constants resulting from the 19 year data analysis are used to substitute for the assumed values in the traditional 1 year data analysis,the accuracy in the tidal analysis and forecast can be raised and the errors can be reduced.
