Breeding of High Quality and High Yield Millet Variety Changnong No.38

FAN Hui-ping,GUO Er-hu,WANG Jun,LI Yu-hui,WANG Li-xia,WANG Xiu-qing,CHENG Li-ping,SONG Hong-jun(Research Institute of Millet,Shanxi Academy of Agricultural Sciences,Changzhi 046011,China)  
Changnong No.38 was a new millet variety,which was bred by crossing 96γ-20,one of the mutant strain of Jigu No.14 by 60Co radiation and 91-pin-8.It was examined as the national quality millet gradeⅡ in 2005.It was approved by Shanxi Crop Variety Registration Committee and the National Millet Variety Registration Committee in 2007 and 2009,respectively.The agronomic characteristics were excellent,and the production potential was great combining with relevant cultivation technique.It was suitable for sowing in spring in the Loess Plateau of Northwest China with above 150 days of frost free period.
