Mathematical Simulation of Solidification and Heat Transfer for Steel in Mould of Thin Slab Casting

The mathematical model for heat transfer during solidification of steel in the mould of FTSC thin slab caster has been established in this paper.The equation about solidification and heat transfer of slab in the mould has been discretely processed.The finite element software,ANSYS,has been applied to simulate solidification process.The temperature distribution and growth history of solidification shell have been described.The simulation results provide theory foundation for establishing reasonable technical parameters,improving slab quality and reducing breakout.
