Static Experimental Research on Cadmium Removal from Polluted Water by Spherical Sponge Iron

Porous spheriea sponge iron with 1~5 mm diameter was prepared by direct reduction process.Static experimental test,in which the spherical sponge iron was applied to dealing with water polluted by cadmium,were carried out to investigate the effect of pH,solid-liquid ratio,interaetin time between sponge iron and solution and in- itial Cadmium pollution concentration in solution on the removal percentage of Cd.The results indicated that pH was an important influence factor on Cd removal from water.Cd removal percentage by spherical sponge iron increased distinctly with initial pH.Similarly,Cd removal percentage was also increased with solid-liquid rate and interaction time.The Cd removal percentage was gradually reduced with the initial concentration of Cd in solution as the initial concentration was below 200 mg·L~(-1),wherease the increasing tendency of Cd removal percent from solution as a- bove 200 mg·L~(-1).
