Studies of Genetic Diversity in Maize Inbred Lines Based on SSRs and AFLPs Markers

The genetic diversity of 23 maize inbred lines and one teosinte accession was analyzed based on microsatellite (SSR) and AFLPs markers.With 40 pairs of SSR primers,totally 202 polymorphic fragments were detected.Twelve AFLP primer combination(PstⅠ/MseⅠ) were used,and totally 444 polymorphic bands were produced.Both SSRs and AFLPs were highly polymorphic.The average of polymorphic information content (PIC) was 0.6 for SSRs.Percentage of polymorphic AFLP bands was 72%.The results of cluster analysis showed that the accessions assessed could be clustered into five groups in both marker systems.This is partly in accordance wih the previous classification based on conventional methods but with some difference.It was suggested that both system can be used to analyze the genetic diversity of maize inbred lines.
