In this experiment six reciprocal crossing combinations and six B_1F_2 were made by selecting a variety of large chalkiness Erjiufeng 305 and three vaieties of little chalkiness Zhao-xiang 17, 82-3, 77-161-1 as experimental material. With F_2 F_3, B_1F_2 and their parents planted at the same time it was found that chalkiness was the result of the interaction of two couples of major genes and environment, the little chalkiness was dominant and controlled by independent complementary genes, the environment had greater effect on two the large chalkiness than on the little chalkiness, and the dosage effect was shown when there was only one of the two dominant genes.
