Isolation and Identification of 4 Photosynthetic Bacterias Strains and Its Activities in Sewage Decontamination

Four photosynthetic bacteria, P1, P2, P3 and P4, were isolated from the sullage of hoggery cesspool and identified based on morphological character, capability of utilizing carbon sources and absorbency character of living cell. Results showed that P1 strain is Phaeospirillum molischianum, P2 strain is Rhodospirillum rubrum, P3 strain is Chromatium minus while P4 strain is Rhodobium orientis. Efficiency of sewage decontamination of these four strains were tested under laboratory conditions by method of measuring COD degradation rate. Strains P1 and P4 were found to degrade COD obviously, degradation rate is 55.2% and 72.1% respectively。
