Analyses on mtDNA Cytb Genetic Diversity in Lichuan Horse

The genetic diversity and phylogenetic evolution of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) Cytb sequences in 22 Lichuan horse samples were analyzed by PCR and bioinformation techniques. The results revealed that the complete Cytb sequence was 1140 bp, and 9 mitochondrial haplotypes with 26 polymorphic sites which account for 0.53% of the analyzed length of the 1140 bp were detected. The haplotype diversity and nucleotide diversity estimated were 0.840 0 and 0.048 6, respectively, showing rich mitochondrial genetic diversity in Lichuan horse breed. The constructed Neighbor-Joining phylogenetic tree based on the mtDNA Cytb haplotypes, showed that in Lichuan horse was a species with multiple maternal origins.
