Effects of Ultraviolet Rays on Phenotype Variation and Development of Drosophila melanogaster

The yellow Drosophila melanogaster were irradiated by ultraviolet rays.The result showed that the life-span was reduced notably,and there was 66.31?%~83.96?% decreased than that in the control group.Otherwise,the number of eggs,the survival ratio of eggs are also reduced.Even the growth and development of Drosophila melanogaster were influenced,the weights of second filial generation were observed 12.08?% lower than those in the control group.After the ultraviolet irradiation,the behavior and character of the first generation and the second generation were influenced,the phenotypes of the second generation were changed.The injury was more obviously increased as the time of radiation was extended and the frequency of irradiation was increased.
