The Study of Mullite Dryed Gel Powder-Aluminum-Titanate Composites

It was studied on the properties of mullite dryed gel powder-aluminum titanate (AT) composites preparpd by sintering of Al2O3/TiO2/mullite dryed gel powder mixtures. The results obtained are summarized as follows.(1)The bending strength of the compeite is 80MPa.The increment of the strength at room temperature is resulted from the restraining of the growth of Al2TiO5 grains and the suppressing of crack propagation by the mullite particles.(2)Banding strength of compeites increased from 80MPa at room temperature to 140MPa at 1000℃.The increment was caused by crack healing (3)Mullite-AT composites has the excellent thermal shock resistance.
