Catalysts Prepared by Co-Precipitation in Homogeneous System for Maleic Anhydride Hydrogenating to γ-Butyrolactone

Several catalysts for maleic anhydride hydrogenating to γ butyrolactone were prepared by different methods. The catalyst prepared by co precipitation in homogeneous system had excellent catalytic performance, which far surpassed other catalysts(including industrial catalysts). The results of XRD showed that the reduced catalysts had Cu phase but no CuO or any Cu xO y phase, but the results of XPS and AES showed there were micro quantity of Cu + on the surface of reduced catalysts. Pore structure of catalyst was the main factor for maleic anhydride hydrogenating to γ butyrolactone. The active material is Cu°.
