Preparation and Characterization of Rare Earth(Ⅲ) Isothiocyanate  Complexes with Nacetic Acid Substituted Benzo Aza Crown Ether

With the starting materials catechol,2chloroethanol,diethanolamine and bromoacetic acid,a new ligand Nacetic acid substituted benzo aza crown ether,i.e.,1,4,7,10tetraoxy13aza5∶6benzocyclopentadecaneNacetic acid,has been prepared.Nine new rare earth(Ⅲ)isothiocyanate complexes with the ligand have been prepared through a displacement reaction in ethanol.Elemental analysis shows that they have a common chemical formula,RE(SCN)2·L·2H2O(RE=La,Pr,Nd,Sm,Eu,Gd,Dy,Er,Y).Their properties have been studied with UV,IR absorption spectroscopies and conductometry.Their coordination structures are also proposed.
