Influence of additives on the content of amino end group of PA 6 resin

A kind of polyamide 6 resin (PA 6) was synthesized via a hydrolytic-polymeric process in which caprolactam (100 parts by weight) was polymerized in the presence of water (7.5 parts by weight) as initiator and isophthalic acid (0.2 parts by weight) and benzoic acid (0.1 parts by weight) as chain regulators. Through the analyses of effects of different additives on the content of amino end group of PA 6, it is found out that adding reactive hindered amine A and B can greatly increase the content of amino end group, thereby improving the dyeability of fibers made of the PA 6. In case the total dosage of additive A and B is 0.1 part by weight while the ratio of A to B equal to 1 : 1, the content of amino end group of PA 6 is 1.8 times as much as that of the blank reference. Adding antioxidant B 215 can obviously restrain the thermo-oxidative degradation in the polymerization process and therefore, can make the content of amino end group of PA 6 decrease significantly. The addition of thermal stabilizer plays an inhibitive role to a given extent to the groups [-COOH] in the polymeric system and at the same time, benefit to increase the content of amino end group of PA 6.
