Isothermal crystallization behavior of binary-monomer solid phase graft copolymer of polypropylene

The isothermal crystallization behaviour of the copolymer of polypropylene(PP)grafted with binary-monomer (maleic anhydride and methyl methacrylate)in solid phase was studied with differential scanning calorimetry combined with the Avrami equation.The influence of grafted side chains on the crystallization activation energy of PP was analyzed in terms of Arrhenius equation.The investigation has proved that the grafted side chain caused the variation in mode of crystal nucleation and crystal growth of PP.Not only act the grafted side chains as a nucleating agent,but also hinder the motion of molecular chains and therefore,reduce the growth rate of crystallites.
