Research advances of dehydroabietate-based nucleators for thermoplastic resins

This paper reviewed the preparation methods,molecular structure and characteristics of crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns of dehydroabietate- based nucleators,and introduced the application methods and effectiveness of the nucleators in polypropylene (PP),polyethylene (PE) and polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The authors emphatically pointed out that the development of dehydroabietate-based nucleator with rosin as major raw material should target utilizing the active groups in the molecules for carrying out chemical modification,or compounding it with other type of nucleator(s) for taking advantage of their synergistic effect.
