Advances in attapulgite/polymer composites

The advance of application of attapulgite in polymer was reviewed based on the references and research of author. It was found that attapulgite could not be separated into single crystals by normal polymer melt processing means in most cases, therefore attapulgite/polymer composites were generally a kind of composites filled with micro particles. Reinforcing effect of attapulgite could be greatly improved by organically modified of attapulgite. Attapulgite/polymer nanocomposites with good mechanical properties were prepared by in-situ polymerization or by normal processing technology for high polar and high viscosity polymer where attapulgite could be separated into nanofibers, or also by attapulgite/latex co-coagulation method.
