Static Analysis and Comparison of Two Kinds of Mooring Systems for Semi-submersible Platform

The static calculation and comparison of two kinds of mooring systems for semi-submersible platform, i.e. all wire rope system and combination of wire rope-chain with clump weight system, are presented. The formulas for calculating the restoring force of the combination of wire rope-chain with clump weight are deduced. They can be applied to the description of the mooring chain with any number of clumps. The calculating steps of the platform's mooring systems are given. In the end, the calculating results of different systems are represented by characteristic curves for comparison.
