Study of transmission capability based on voltage stability and FACTS devices

HAN Li-na,FANG Ge-fei(School of Electrical Engineering,Zhejiang Univ.,Hangzhou 310027,China)  
The transmission capability is an important index of grid technology,and is a market signal reflecting the grid transmission capacity.With consideration of voltage stability,the branch-based voltage stability index was used for quick screening and ranking of the contingencies,and the Continuous Power Flow(CPF) method was used to calculate the transmission capability.The influence of the Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System(FACTS) location on the transmission capability was also assessed by using the branch-based voltage stability index under critical condition in order to quickly obtain the optimal installation location.The effectiveness of the method is proved through IEEE 5-bus and IEEE 30-bus systems.
