Power System Economic Dispatch Based on Fast Intelligent Tuned Harmony Search Optimization

Power system economic dispatch( ED) model,considering ramp rate constraints,prohibited operating zones,valve-point effects,transmission losses and multiple fuels,is non-convex,non-linear and non-differentiable,so in recent years a large number of scholars at home and abroad have studied on the model solution. This paper presents a fast intelligent tuned harmony search optimization( FITHS) for the ED model solution,whereby calculation has been conducted for 6-unit system,15-unit system and 10-unit system with multiple fuel choices. In comparison,the obtained results show that the proposed FITHS is superior to previous methods in convergence speed,calculation time and power cost value,proving that FITHS is feasible,fast and effective in solving the complex ED model.
