THE STUDY OF STABILITY ON THE SHULE RIVER FAULT ZONE IN THE GANSU PRESELECTION OF AN HLW REPOSITORY Yu Yunxiang

Shule river fault zone is a buried deep basement fault zone,it locates in the Southof Beishan area in Gansu Province.There is no systematic studies on its stability in the past.It isthe first time for the paper to interpret the zone with the help of remote sensing images,particu-larly image of side-looking radar.Its spatial distribution,scale and features of images are furthersystematically investigated,then,interpretative maps of remote sensing images,features in Shuleriver fault zone are worked out.Based on field works,confirmation of interpretative maps andanalysis of the stability data about regional crust, regional geological background that the zoneformed ,processes of formation and evolution are further studied,its stability is also evaluat-ed.Conclusions:Based on evolutional process and geological features of the Shule River faultzone,it can be divided into three regions east,middle and west,the middle region is the moststeady and is a place that we will further study in future,North middle region is enclosed as beingfavorable ones for the preselection of an HLW repository.This paper provides data that can beused to study and evaluate the crust stability in Beishan area.
