The functional response of parasite Spalangia longepetiolata on the host Bactrocera dorsalis

ZHENG Min-lin,HUANG Ju-chang,JI Qing-e,CHEN Jia-hua(Beneficial Insects Laboratory,Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University,Fuzhou,Fujian 350002,China)
The results of the experiments showed that the functional response between Spalangia longepetiolata Boucek and Bactrocera dorsalis Hendel could be described as Holling Ⅱ: N_a=1.5324T_rN_0/(1+1.5324T_hN_0).Theoretically,a female parasitoid could attack no more than 17.57 pupae of B.dorsalis within 24 h and would spend 1.37 h on dealing with a pupa.It was concluded that the instant attacking-ability of S.longepetiolata was 0.6526.The density of S.longepetiolata also affected its parasitism to host and the relation could be described as Hassell-Varley:α=0.1085P-0.1929.
