Theoretical Prediction of Critical Heat Flux Low Intermediate Quality in round Tube

A theoretical model is proposed to predict CHF in round tube under the condition of low or intermediate quality, the mechanism adopted is formation and growth of bubble layer resulting in limitation of turbulent enthalpy interchange between the bubbly layer and core regions Agreement is obtained between predictions and experimental data for water flowing in uniformly heated tubes from CHF table compiled by Thompson and MacBeth
