Design of the Reactor and Reactor Coolant System for Qingshan Phase II NPP Project

The electrical power for Qingshan Phase II NPP Project is 2×600MW. The reactor is a pressurized water reactor that is consisted of two loops with A operation model. Average linear power density in the core is 161W/cm. The one-fourth annual refuel mode is adopted. Reactor coolant system is arranged symmetrically which reactor vessel is in center and tow loops are side by side. The nominal flowrate is 24290m3/h in each loop. Nuclear Power Institute of China is responsible for the design and technical service of the reactor and reactor coolant system, and relative control, protection, and instrumentation systems, as well as the design qualifications. Well-defined management organization is established to manage the project, and quality assurance program and documentation list are developed based on Chinese nuclear safety rules, engineering contract and requirements of the owner. French RCC series code is used in the design. Key design for the system is verified by tests. Comparison between the measured value and design value indicate 下转第页that the theoretical calculated value for the reactor and reactor coolant system for Qingshan Phase II NPP Project is well in well consistence with the measured value obtained from the practical reactor. The test results show that the equipment performance is excellent which operation requirement can be satisfied in normal or accident conditions for the power plant.
