Study of the Alkali Activation on the Steel Slag

The study of the alkali activation on the steel slag was presented.Samples of cement were prepared by the method of introducing the liquid and solid alkali activating agents into steel slag respectively.In the various kinds of mixture consisting of 90% steel slag,5% activating agent and 5% dewatered gypsum,the sample activated by the solid compound involving Na2SiO3 had the similar activating effect to that of water glass-activated,and after the curing period of 28 days,the bending strength of it was 3.7 MPa,while the compressing strength was 17 MPa.In the case of the cementious sample consisted of 40% steel slag,40% furnace slag and 10% clinker,as a results of the solid-compound activation,the bending strength was 5.2 MPa,and the compressive strength was 24 MPa.
