Numerical Simulation of Fire in a Single Room by Using a Two-layer Zone Model

A two_layer zone model ASET was used for simulating a fire in a single_room with a mathematic_physcal model established. Key equations are solved by using the symbolic mathematics software Maple. Predicted results were compared with those obtained using the software ASET developed by the Fire Research Center, National Bureau of Standards U.S.A. Several cases with different heat release rates and floor areas were considered. Good agreements were obtained between the prediction and ASET. Lastly, the effects of the heat release rate and floor area on the development of fire in a room were discussed.
