A new control method for combustion-supporting air flow in a supercharged boiler

The most significant difference between a marine supercharged boiler and a standard boiler lies in that the marine supercharged boiler uses a turbine to supply compressed combustion-supporting air.Effective control of the air flux depends on time-varying characteristics with nonlinearity and complex coupling,making it almost impossible to get good performance with traditional controllers.After evaluating the characteristics of fuzzy controllers with quick dynamic response,good robustness,good learning capability and good generalization capability of neural network control,a Fuzzy-CMAC joint controller based on a genetic algorithm(GA) was used in the controller design for combustion-supporting air flow in a supercharged boiler.Simulation results show that the transition time is shortened and overshoot is decreased significantly and system stability is materially improved.The proposed control strategy solves control difficulties and the system has strong anti-jamming ability because of the application of GA.
