Sliding mode predictive controller for a ship boiler steam pressure system

In ship boiler control systems,steam pressure is an important factor affecting the performance of the overall control system.It is,in fact,a key requirement that steam pressure be kept constant in various operational situations.Unfortunately steam pressure involves both time delay and uncertainties.Predictive control was used to deal with time delay and a sliding mode control was used to deal with uncertainties.The predictive control was able to reduce the chattering phenomenon associated with the sliding mode.Simulation results showed that when compared with a single generalized predictive control,the proposed algorithm can significantly improve system response,having better tracking and robust performance.
