Optimization of parameter for spacecraft single-bumper shielding structure against space debris

In order to avoid impact by meteoroid and space debris at high velocity and to ensure safety of a spacecraft, a Nysmith model is proposed to predict the shielding performance of a protective structure, and the effect of impacting conditions and structure parameters on optimal results is analyzed using a nonlinear optimization method. The relationship between existence of feasibility conditions for global optimal solution to bumper/back wall spacing and impact parameters is obtained. The effect of all parameters on optimal results is shown in the figures.
