PML technique and non-local boundary conditions for the parabolic equation

HUANG Zhi-xiang, WU Xian-liang(Key Lab of Intelligent Computing & Signal Processing of Ministry of Education, Anhui University, Hefei 230039, China)  
Two kinds of absorbing boundary condition for the parabolic equation algorithms,the perfectly matched layer(PML)(based on “stretched coordinate”) and non-local boundary conditions, are introduced and analyzed. Numerical results show that they can work with parabolic equation algorithms to handle not only unbounded space wave propagation problems but also object scattering problems. The advantages and weaknesses of the two kinds of absorbing boundary condition are compared.
