Beyond Life and Death: Zhuangzi and Martin Heidegger
YAN Wei;Department of Philosophy, Anhui University;
Zhuangzi and Martin Heidegger pursuit spiritual freedom of every person by means of taking "the concept that life and death is similar to day and night" and "being-toward-death" as the specific form of transcending life and death respectively. The ultimate reality of the philosophy of life and death consists of free and true condition and Tao and Being. It is the ultimate basis for human beings in reality to transcend life and death. Zhuangzi thinks that all things are one and life and death are identical based on the elimination of differences, while Martin Heidegger aims to realize the transformation of Dasein from daily sinking to true existence. It is an inner experience in essence. Exploring the value of death is a common concern of Zhuangzi and Martin Heidegger and it is the key to transcend life and death. It also has important enlightenment and reference for how modern people live in a pleasant way and create a better life.
