Study on the Adsorption Mechanism to Chromium(Ⅵ) of Protonize Chitin

The mechanism of the adsorption to chromium(Ⅵ) by the application of protonize chitm as a sorbent material to solid phase extraction was studied.Kinetic studies showed that chromiurn(Ⅵ) could be adsorbed rapidly and significantly by protonize chitin.At initial chromium(Ⅵ) concent ration of 20 mg/L and pH 4.5,sorption was almost 90% at 1h,and the first-order rate constant for chromium(Ⅵ)removal was calculated to be 4.19 h -1 .The experimental data was constant with the Lamgmuir and Freundlich relationships.The force of the interaction could be chiefly attributed to the electrostatic attraction between —NH_2+—CO—CH_3 and Cr_2O_7 2- ions.
