The Contrastive Analysis on Cultural Cognition of English and Chinese Conceptual Metaphors

As an important way of thinking and cognitive tool,metaphor can help people better understand the external world and themselves more clearly.This paper introduces conceptual metaphor's cognitive understanding,distinguishes primary metaphor and complex metaphor,the two categories of conceptual metaphor,and analyses the mutual reliance of conceptual metaphor and culture in cognitive linguistics and cultural cognition perspectives.It hopes a better understanding of the cultural differences,and pursuit of the best understanding of English and Chinese metaphors.
