Preliminary Analysis on the Mechanism of Bioleaching of Nicopyrite by Thiobacillus Ferrooxidans

ZHANG Guang-ji, FANG Zhao-heng (Inst. Chem. Metall., Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing 100080, China)  
Bioleaching of Nicopyrite was studied and the following conclusions were drawn from the experiments: (1) The bacteria attached on the surface of the minerals had the most important contribution to the dissolution of Nicopyrite, the free bacteria in the solution had minor contribution; (2) Fe2+ was mainly oxidized by free bacteria in the solution; (3) The incomplete oxidation of S can lead to rising of pH value in solution.
