Effect of Ultrasonic Wave on the Extraction of Shikonin and Its Derivatives from Arnebia euchroma Roots

The ultrasonic extraction technique was used to extract shikonin and its derivatives from Arnebia euchroma roots. The effects of ultrasonic power, temperature, extracting time, herbal powder size and liquid-to-solid ratio on the extraction of shikonin were studied. The ultrasonic wave extraction results showed that the optimal extraction conditions were as follows: the powder size of Arnebia euchroma roots was 80 mesh (180 μm), liquid-to-solid ratio 12 mg/L, temperature 50℃, extraction time 25 min and ultrasonic power 1800 W.
