Experimental study on EM applied to dairy effluent treatment

Laboratory experiments were conducted on EM rejuvenation and the application of rejuvenated EM activated liquid to treatment of dairy effluent under anaerobic condition.Experimental results show that molasses and its mixture with high-concentrated organic effluent from dairies are beneficial for EM rejuvenation,and that EM activated liquid added to dairy effluent can effectively decrease COD_(Mn) by improving the microorganism activity.It is also indicated that the effect of dairy effluent treatment with EM activated liquid of 0.1% added is better than that with EM activated liquid of 0.05% added,and that the EM activated liquid can effectively remove the offensive odor from dairy effluent.
