Flocculation kinetics incorporating fractal growth model in water treatment

In order to investigate the microscopic structure of flocs and the mechanisms and the dynamic process of coagulation,the contradictions between assumptions in traditional models and experimental results were analyzed,and the characteristics and application conditions of the flocs fractal growth model,flocculation kinetic model and flocs break-up model were presented.The stepwise growth model is a foundation of compact flocs formation study.The flocculation kinetic model makes particle collision equation easier to simulate.The flocs break-up model can help to optimize the operation,flocculant and equipment in the coagulation process.It is recommended that the quantitative description of the morphology and structure of flocs be the emphasis of further study of floc model.
