Applicability of two-source potential evapotranspiration model in semiarid areas

Based on the hydrometeorological data from the 1970s and topographical and land cover data with a spatial resolution of 30″×30″,the daily potential evapotranspiration of the Laohahe watershed upstream from the Dianzi hydrological station was calculated using the two-source potential evapotranspiration model.In order to verify the applicability of the two-source potential evapotranspiration model in semiarid areas,the regression relationship between the calculated potential evapotranspiration and measured with an evaporation pan was established and regarded as the input of the hybrid runoff generation model. The results indicate that good temporal similarity and consistence occur between the potential evapotranspiration calculated with the two-source potential model and that calculated with the field evaporation pan.The calculated potential evapotranspiration can replace the pan evaporation as the input of the hybrid model to simulate daily runoff,and the simulation precisions of the two approaches is close.
