The changing ideas of teaching and learning in the process of higher education massification

XIANG Xian-ming(Center for Comparative Education, Beijing Normal University, Beijing 100875, China)  
In the process of Massification, the expansion of higher education systems brought many changes in the university idea, student-teachers relationship, society-universities nexus, and the competition between universities. The elitism faded away in higher education. All these changes stimulated the innovation of teaching and learning ideal in many universities all over the world. They extended the instruction from higher learning to the combination of higher learning and higher skills, and transformed the way of learning from knowledge-based on complex learning. The interest of academy and employ ability are getting more and more closed in universities. An idea of "diversified higher education system provide multiple-choice" was formed. For the healthy development of Chinese higher education massification, we must now launch an innovation of teaching and learning in our universities.
