How College Student Affairs Actually Impact Students:What Empirical Studies Have Found out?

Based on recent empirical studies conducted by a research team of Graduate School of Education,Peking University,this paper analyzed how college student affairs have actually impacted their students.These empirical studies mainly showed the complexity of the effect of student affairs on college student development.This complexity was reflected by its systematic and ecological influence on student growth,with multilevel and multipath impact,as well as limited marginal rates.This paper suggested that China needs to reflect on its "dualist" college environments;to redesign its student affairs strategically through a new mission of promoting student learning;to adopt the theory of student engagement in evaluating effectiveness and efficiency of student affairs;and to diversify student organizations.
