There are mainly four types of telluride bearing gold deposits in China, namely, gold bearing quartz vein type in Archaeozoic granite greenstone terrain, altered tectonite type in Proterozoic volcanic rocks, epithermal gold silver deposits in Meso Cenozoic volcanic rocks and gold deposits related with granite. The optical properties, hardness and associated characteristics of the found tellurides in China are summed up. The results of quantitative analysis on the main tellurides by electron microprobe are listed. Some geochemical behaviors of tellurides are discussed. It shows that telluride always occurrs in late mineralization with native gold, which indicates that it has some identical geochemical behaviors with gold and can form complex with gold to be transported by hydrothermal solution.
