NUMERICAL SIMULATION AND COAGULATION EFFICIENCY OF FLOW FIELD FOR RECIPROCATING BAFFLED FLOCCULATION TANK

In this paper, the numerical simulation is applied to the flow field for a reciprocating baffled flocculation tank.Based on the characteristic of flocculation tank an analysis of the influence of the flow field on flocculation is carried out.The conclusion indicates the optimum value of A 1/A 2 is from 1.2 to 1.5,where A 1 is the area of the wetted cross section in the corner and A 2 is the area of the wetted cross section in the gallery.The coagulation efficiency in the tank is relatively perfect if designed it according to the optimum value of A 1/A 2.
