TREATMENT OF POLLUTED RIVER WATER BY CONSTRUCTED WETLAND WITH PACKING MEDIUM OF POTSHERD WASTE

A constructed wetland system was made by selecting potsherd waste as packing medium,reed and calamus as plants to treat polluted river water.With the hydraulic loading of 15 cm/d,pollutants removal performance of the system was studied in the condition of high influent concentration (COD_ Cr and ammonia nitrogen concentration were 40~70 mg/L and 10~35 mg/L,respectively)and low influent concentration (COD_ Cr and ammonia nitrogen concentration were 15~30 mg/L and 0.3~3 mg/L,respectively).The results showed that in the condition of high influent concentration,COD_ Cr and ammonia nitrogen removal rates were 10.0% and 42.4%,respectively,and in the condition of low influent concentration,COD_ Cr and ammonia nitrogen removal rates were 38.5% and 63.0%,respectively.Potsherd waste is a kind of economical and effective packing medium for constructed wetland.
